Rainforest: Managing Conflicts 08/19 – 08/23

We are finally back!

The Obon holiday was a lot of fun. Some of the Rainforest students shared where they went during the holiday, what they did, and how exciting their new experiences were.

In the classroom, we have continued inquiring about TEAMWORK. We have started the second line of inquiry which is: Managing Conflict and Problem Solving by a skit. Each inquirer was paired with their friends and was given a scenario. They needed to identify what conflict was presented and how they would solve the problem.

The activity gave each inquirer a chance to hone their presentation skills, thinking skills, and creativity. Without the teacher’s help, the students came up with their lines and stories and presented them in front of the class.

The skit showed the prior knowledge of the inquirers on the topic of managing conflict, most of them thought that calming down was the best solution to, if not all, most of the conflicts they encountered.

In one of the books we use to find more ways to manage conflict and solve problems, we found out that self-control is very important. What is self-control? We played the Freeze Dance game, to help the students understand what self-control is, and help them realize that is difficult to do, but we have to do it anyway.

The class also made a Solution Wheel which they can use if they are in conflict or experiencing so much anger.

The preparation for the Sports Festival is on. We are just excited to memorize what we all need to do and deliver a nice show for our parents.

See you all next week.
