Digging Deeper: RF 10/23 – 10/27

It has been awhile since our little inquirers stretch their legs and walk to the park. Due the powerful heat of the summer, we opted to stay indoors more to avoid getting too exhausted and dehydrated… but now that the weather is nice and fair, we will start to walk more and enjoy the breeze outside and the beautiful serene view of our city.

Back in the classroom, the Rainforest class has been digging deeper on the subject about the 3Rs. We have observed around the earth through videos and figured out: Why does Earth need the 3Rs? What are the problems?

In every issue they encounter, they pick up what they think is an important information and record it by drawing or making a poster.

Also, they did some experiments, and crafts in the classroom to see how the 3Rs work.

We have found out that using too much energy or natural resources will not help mother earth, so we all decided to measure how much do water do we use every time we wash our hands. Then after that, self-assessment: What should I do? Am I helping mother earth? Some of their answers were: We should turn off the faucet while we wash, otherwise we will run out of water. If we are not, we make sure we turn off the tap to save water.

Also, we made something that can help us practice Reusing. What can be reused? was the questions we kept in our mind before we decide what to do? and in one of the videos, they gave some tips to reuse bags for shopping rather than using a plastic bag only for one time. So the whole class decided to make a reusable eco bag. The process was rather complicated, but was super fun! We all can’t wait to see our little inquirers use them outside school.

See you all next week for another amazing inquiry and deep digging adventure of the Rainforest Class!
