This week in G2 class, we are learning about Unit 3, Natural Disasters. The students are very interested in a topic they are familiar with.
今週のG2クラスでは、Unit 3 Natural Disasters (自然災害）について探究しています。生徒たちは身近なトピックにとても興味深く取り組んでいました。
This week, we continued our study of LOI 1 (Line of Inquiry 1): the different types of natural disasters in the world. Using the posters we made as a team last week, we presented typhoons, floods, and earthquakes, then learned about each and discussed them as a class.
今週は、LOI 1（Line of Inquiry 1）世界のさまざまな種類の自然災害について引き続き探究しました。先週、チームで作ったポスターを使って台風、洪水、地震について発表した後、それぞれの災害の仕組みについて学び、クラスで話し合いました。実際に家を作って強風で飛ばしたり、地震をおこしてどうなるか確かめたりしました。地震の強度を測る機械を作ったり、みんな興味津々に課題に取り組みました。
September 1st was Disaster Prevention Day. Some students already knew what day it was, but we discussed it as a class in the morning meeting. The students were asked to talk about natural disasters with their families and see what they would do in case of a disaster. At that time, a student asked if it would be okay to take home the notes they took in class and share what they learned with their families. I hope the students had a good conversation with their families!
9月1日は「防災の日」でした。すでに何の日か知っている生徒もいましたが、朝の会にみんなで話し合いました。お家に帰ってから、家族と自然災害について話し合い、災害が起きたときにどうするかを確認しましょうと話しました。その際、生徒から「授業でとったノートを家に持ち帰って、学んだことを家族と共有してもいいですか？」と提案がありました。とても素晴らしいことです！このユニット中にぜひご家族で話し合ってみてください。
In PE lessons, the students have started practicing for Sports Day. G2 will present a performance with a ball. The students’ concentration was amazing and they learned most of the choreography in just two practices! In the classroom, they watched the video of the practice over and over again and talked about what they should do better.
体育のレッスンでは、スポーツデイの練習が始まりました。G2はボールを使ったパフォーマンスを発表します。子ども達の集中力は素晴らしく、２回の練習でほどんどの振り付けを覚えてしまいました！教室では練習の様子を撮ったビデオを何度も見返して、ここはこうした方がいいかななど話していました。もしお家にボールがあれば、上に投げてキャッチしたり、上手に相手に投げたりなど練習をしてみてください。
スクールでは、感染対策も兼ね、適宜手洗いを行っています。毎日きれいなハンカチ（ハンドタオル）を持たせていただくようにお願いいたします。
