Now that we are able to differentiate the kinds and characteristics of animals, we then created a craft to sort them according to their habitat (I.e., the place where they live). First, we made a big circle using A3 paper and divided it into 4. We chose two kinds of animals from the invertebrates group and the vertebrates group. Second, we drew and colored the places or their habitat on each pie of the circle. Third, we drew and colored the animal cards for each pie. We only need two animals for each pie which means we have a total of eight animals cards. Then, we pasted each animal card on a wooden clothespin. Finally, we attached each animal to it correct habitat.
動物の種類や特徴を区別できるようになったので、次に生息地（住んでいる場所）別に動物を分ける工作をしました。まず、A3用紙に大きな円を作り、それを4つに分けて、無脊椎動物グループと脊椎動物グループから2種類の動物を選びました。次に、4つに分けた円の中に、それぞれの動物の生息地を描いて色を塗りました。3つ目は、それぞれの動物を小さなカードに描き、色を塗りました。それぞれの部屋に入れる動物は2つずつなので、合計8つの動物カードを作りました。そして、その動物カードを木の洗濯ばさみに貼り付けました。最後に、動物のついた洗濯ばさみでそれぞれの正しい生息地の場所に付けました。
The next day, he class was divided into four teams. We mixed the animals and made sure it is placed on a different habitat/pie. We exchanged circles/crafts and were given three minutes to arrange it accordingly. We had three rounds. It was a fun way to know if we really know the names of the animals as well as the places they live. We also had to find out whether they were invertebrates or vertebrates. Some groups got a perfect score and other made less than five mistakes.
翌日、4つのチームに分かれて、昨日工作した動物カードを使ってゲームをしました。動物カードをミックスし、間違った生息地の上に置いたら、それを他のチームと交換して、3分間で正しい生息地に並べ変えるというものです。3ラウンド行いましたが、動物の名前と住んでいる場所をきちんと知っているかどうかがよく分かる、楽しいゲームでした。また、無脊椎動物か脊椎動物かも調べなければなりません。満点のグループもあり、間違っても5つ以下で、よくできました。
Those who were not in a hurry and did their best really made the best outputs! But the others who just wanted to finish, didn’t even double check their spellings and drawings so some students were having a hard time reading the names as well as deciding where to place it.
焦らずに頑張った子は、とても良くできていました。でも、早く終わらせたいと思うとスペルや絵の確認がされず、名前を読んだりどこに配置するか決めるのに苦労している子もいました。
