The students have been having a great time learning about different kinds of celebrations. This week they learned about Día De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) in Mexico, Ramadan (Islamic Holiday), Fiestas in the Philippines, and Hanukkah (a Jewish holiday). They haven’t just been learning about the customs but the reasons they celebrate these holidays. It has been great to see how their mindsets towards some of these holidays has changed. Christmas isn’t just about presents but helping people. Ramadan isn’t just about not eating but seeing what it’s like for people who don’t have money and can’t eat. The students are becoming more open-minded.
ミルキーウェイクラスでは様々な異なる行事について楽しく学んでいます！
今週は、メキシコの”Day of the dead”、中東の”Ramadan”、フィリピンの”Fiestas”、ユダヤの祝日”Hanukkah”について探求をしました！
今回の探求では、「何故人々はその日を祝うのか」という理由や起源についてフォーカスし探求を深めました✨
理由や起源を学ぶ事で、祝日に対する考え方が少しづつ変わって行く様子が見られます。
例えば、クリスマスはただプレゼントを渡す日と言う事だけではなく、助け合いをする日であるという事。ラマダンは断食を通して食べ物に感謝したり、食料が無い人の気持ちを理解するためである事。など、祝日に込められた願いや背景に触れながら、心を開いた状態で文化の違いを理解する事ができるようになってきています✨
そして、UOIのレッスンではその国の行事に因んだクラフトやゲームをしながら楽しく学んでいます♩

The Halloween Party was this week! It was so cool to see all the wonderful and creative costumes. Everyone one looked like they were having so much fun and were so happy. We are glad that we were able to have it all together and with family this year. We hope the family members had fun too!
