This week we focused on the importance of plants and animals for our lesson in UOI. The students learned that just like other things that we can find in nature, plants and animals are also natural resources that help people to survive. We watched the movie entitled The Lorax, which taught us the importance of trees. The students identified ways on how we can help save trees so that they will always remember the value of this natural resource.
今週のUOIレッスンでは、植物と動物の重要性について探求をしました。自然の中で見つける資源と同じように、植物や動物も私たち人間の生活を助けてくれていることを学びました。レッスンでは、「ロラックスおじさんの秘密の種」という映画をみんなで見て、木の大切さを学びました。木を無駄使いしないためにはどんな事をするべきかがわかり、これからの生活でも気を付けていければ良いなと思います。
We also learned about the importance of animals and the things that they provide for us. We went to Tensan Silk Museum and discovered how silk fabric is produced. At first, we thought that you can only make clothes out of silk, but during our visit to the museum, we learned that we can make a lot of different things from this special fabric.
動物やその他の生き物が、私たちに提供してくれるものの重要性についても学びました。安曇野市にある天蚕センターに行って、絹地がどのように作り出されるかを見学しました。時期的に蚕はいませんでしたが、ビデオを見せていただきどのように蚕を職員の方が育て、蚕がどのように成長して蛹（さなぎ）になるのかを見せてもらいました。工場では蛹からどのように糸を取り出し、その糸を使ってどうやって布を織るのかを目の前で見せてもらいました！「どうしてこんなきれいな色の糸が出来るの？」、「どうやって機械を動かすの？」、「蚕はどうなっちゃうの？」など、みんなたくさん質問をしました。出来上がった絹地から洋服だけではなく、色々なものを作れることがわかりました。
In our Writing Class, the students are getting better at writing paragraphs! In class, we learned a new strategy in writing a good paragraph and that is by following the Hamburger template. The Hamburger template has three parts: the topic sentence, details, and closing sentence. This template made it easier for the MW kids to write their own paragraphs. With enough practice, for sure they will become the best writers that they can be.
ライティングレッスンでは、段落を使って文章を書くのが上手になってきました！ハンバーガーの絵を使って、上手に段落を使う方法を学んでいます。ハンバーガーの絵には三つの部分があり、最初はテーマの文章、詳細、締めの文章となっています。この絵を使うと、自分で文章を組み立てるのが簡単に出来るようになります。練習を重ねて、どんどん文章を作るのが上手になりそうです♬
