Happiness is teamwork! MW 8/19-8/23

Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much. –Helen Keller

Hello and welcome back to school after a week of holiday! The Milky Way class went back to school with their wonderful stories about how they spent their holidays with their family. They also draw the following to complete the worksheet “My Summer Snapshots”.

*Where I went… *Who I saw… *Things I ate… *Games I played… *Our last day…

Back to our phonics lesson, we learned a new digraph which is /ai/ as in train, brain, daisy, rain, chain, nail, wait, maid, etc. We did read and reveal activity wherein each letter of the word is shown one by one while students say its sound. Once it’s done, they blend the sounds together to read the word and the teacher shows the picture. They practised reading it by groups and most of them were able to read them properly.

In UOI3: Teamwork, we played a game called tower building challenge. The goal of this game was to work together in building the tallest tower within a specified time using the given limited number of materials. The students were given a chance to choose and make their own team and how much time they wanted to work on their task. Everyone agreed to do it in 15 minutes. They were also reminded to be caring, communicator, and open-minded and practice teamwork while doing their job. At first, some of them wanted to make their own tower, but after some reminders that they have to work as a team, they changed their mind, started thinking about what to do, shared ideas, and listened to each other. And that’s how they showed teamwork and how they achieved their goal. Everybody was happy that they were able to make a tower within the time given to them. They felt fulfilled after trying many times to make their tower strong and don’t fall. It is just so fun to watch them working together and reminding each other what they should do to avoid knocking down the tower they built.

After a long holiday, we worked together again to pursue our practice for the Science fair presentation and Sports Festival. Though our schedule is very busy, we still find time for Milky Way students to enjoy and have playtime during the day. They are having fun playing in the water on very hot afternoons and had a chance to go to the park on a fine windy Tuesday. We will continue to do our best next week until the day of the Science Fair and we are all looking forward to seeing you. Thank you so much for accepting our invitation, for saying yes to come and watch our presentation in the Science Fair!

Our temporary classmate who is from Malaysia had to say goodbye to us on Thursday. We made a beautiful card for him and he really liked it. We hugged him very tight and said lovely messages that he can bring and remember when he goes back to Malaysia. We will miss you so much!

See you next week! Enjoy your weekend!
