Savanna: Beetles, Beetles Everywhere! July 29-August 2

Firstly, a big shout out to our birthday boy and girl… Happy 5th Birthday! We practised our Matsumoto Bon Bon dance in a circle and had a great party!

We have been spotting beetles wherever we go! In our homes, on our school doorstep, under the tree in the park, and we even had tanks of beetles in class. We had a Beetle Talk by a junior high school student expert! He brought rhinoceros beetles and stag beetles to class. We found out that beetles bite, chew with their jaws. They love bananas, tree sap and have no backbones! They live only for a year. We even had a Quiz.

Savanna asked: How do beetles grow? Are they from eggs? Good questions. We studied the life cycle of a ladybug and watched a video. We get our information from books, Youtube videos and experts! We have making origami ladybugs and stag beetles too. Please see the links below. We pretended to be all the different stages in the life cycle of a ladybug – yellow egg, larva, pupa and adult ladybug with wings. We flew around the classroom with our soft wings! Till next Monday, take care and have a fabulous Matsumoto Bon Bon!
