Hitting the goal! – Rainforest 08/26 – 08/30

Before we wrapped up the inquiry on Teamwork, our inquirers tested the skills they had learned about the subject.

The whole class headed to Gojo this week to join the Science Fair. Each student bearing in mind the result of their inquiry on Teamwork, prepared together for their presentation. They have started with making their booths, collecting what they have worked on for the last couple of months, and setting them up for the parents to enjoy in the event.

They next prepared their lines by asking themselves: What do we want to share? They thought of the topic they wanted to share and made their lines together.

lastly, and the most fun part was making the costume. After delegating their roles among themselves, they made their costumes using the materials provided in the classroom. It was good to see them brainstorming, and planning what design to put on the costume and how they would like to present their role.

The presentation was not perfect but went well. The important thing was that the Team Rainforest worked hand in hand and gave their best to achieve their goal!

Also, this week, the Rainforest class invited two guest speakers to inquire about how to achieve goals. The guest speakers were from famous local soccer players, The Matsumoto Yamagafc.

Before starting the soccer game, the students asked: Does a team need a goal, and how to achieve it? to which the coach replied: Yes, a team needs a goal. A goal has two parts, main and sub-goal. In sports, the main goal is to win, and the sub-goal is to work together to achieve the main goal. Everyone needs to play their role nicely because if one of the team members did not do his part, the team might fail and lose.

The answer made a big impact on our little inquirers, and since then they have been saying: We should help each other, and they showed evidence of this during their preparation for the Science Fair.

What a lovely way to finish the unit. Our little inquirers have not only demonstrated teamwork but also proudly showcased their work and student agency!

Have a lovely and hopefully not too rainy weekend!
