So, last Friday Grade 4 went to visit Togariishi Museum in Chino. We were fortunate to have a gap in the clouds and enjoyed a dry and somewhat sunny day as we took in all the museum had to offer.
さて、先週の金曜日にG4クラスは茅野市にある尖石縄文考古館に行ってきました。幸運なことに雲の切れ間から晴れ間が見え、温かい日差しの中で博物館の見どころを満喫することができました。
The class enjoyed viewing the recreation of a Jomon settlement and seemed particularly impressed by the Dogu statue. A strange and wondorous marvel to ponder.
博物館には縄文時代の集落が再現されており、生徒達は特に土偶に感心していました。はるか昔に作られた繊細な作りに、奇妙で不思議な驚きに満ちた時間を過ごすことができました。
After the museum we enjoyed a picnic lunch outside and then went to Osakada Park for a well earned playtime before boarding the bus for the return journey. Just as wearrived on the outskirts of Matsumoto, the skies finally gave and rain pelted down.
博物館見学の後には外でピクニックランチを楽しみ、小坂田公園でたっぷり遊び、帰りのバスに乗り込みました。松本市に入ったあたりでついに空が荒れ、雨が降ってきました！
This week, has found the class attempting to build their own shelter similar to a Jomon hut. While not quite achieving this feat, all seemed to enjoy the learning experience of both negotiating within the group as to how the shelter should be made, and in trying to re-discover the seemingly lost skills involved in their construction.
そして今週、縄文時代の小屋のようなシェルターを自分たちで作ることに挑戦しました。実現には至りませんでしたが、グループ内でどのようにシェルターを作るべきか話し合ったり、失われたと思われていた技術を再発見したりと、楽しみながら学ぶことができたようです。
