Hello all,
This past month in the project we had a great time analyzing all the facets of technology. We discussed the different kinds and different uses of technology, from low technology to high technology, to devices and machines. We also really worked-out our Inquirer profile by having dialectic sessions in which we investigated the positive and negative effects of technology. Children were surprised to unearth that not all technology is good and that high technology has serious limitations. Our thinker profile was put to the test when we had to create our own piece of technology and identify a purpose for it. Students came up with some amazing machines, Like “the human making machine” or “the mixing machine” which fuses two people into one, while others had some sillier ones such as “juice robot” which is a robot that goes around drinking people’s juice. To end our unit, students reflected on the different things they learned and how they affect the world around us. We tried different forms of art, from watercolor to perspective art, tackled subtraction and addition for our math segment, sang classic disney songs, and enjoyed chess amongst other board games.
