No Mining . . . Just Crafting (and a little bit of painting)

All good things must come to an end, and such is the way with the 1st grade’s first unit of inquiry about jobs. We wrapped up by reviewing all of the material from our unit, and all of the interesting things we discovered over the past couple of weeks. We also did a mishmash of other activities before starting our next unit.
For their assessment, the students had to select a job that they were interested in and then create a piece of craftwork that illustrated that job. To go along with their craft, the students had to write about what the responsibilities of that job are, and how it connects to other kinds of jobs.
The 1st grade students chose some interesting jobs and made some really amazing pieces of craftwork. They all did a superb job!
Also, through all of their good behavior, and from outstanding demonstrations of IB attitudes and learner profiles, the 1st grade students managed to fill the class marble jar and choose their reward—a trip to Alps Park! Great job!
We also continued painting our partition for our play area . . . that is, until the paint got the best of us! Yowza!
