How do humans take care of animals? This is a complex question in some ways, yet simple in so many.This is the question we will endeavor to answer as we navigate our second line of inquiry.
Animals have needs and wants. These differ from animal to animal. Take for example, a comparison between a dog and a sloth. Dogs like to be petted because it makes them feel loved. To sloths, petting doesn’t mean much.They are known as solitary animals and so , do not like to be touched. We watched a video about doctor Meekah, a vet who talked about different ways of caring for animals. It was interesting to learn that animals need regular medical check ups just like human beings.
人間はどのようにして動物のお世話をするのだろうか？これはある意味ではシンプルでありながら、ある意味では複雑な質問です。
動物にも欲求があります。これは動物によって異なっています。例えば、犬とナマケモノを比較してみましょう。犬は撫でられるのが好きです。ナマケモノは孤独な動物として知られており、触られることを嫌がります。私たちは獣医のミーカ先生のビデオを見ました。ミーカ先生は動物の世話のさまざまな方法について話してくれました。人間と同じように、動物にも定期的な健康チェックが必要だということはとても興味深いことでした。

Swimming lesson
It had been quite a while since we last went to Central fitness center, so everyone was excited to go there this week. The coaches dropped small hoops into the pool and asked the students to try to get them with their hands or legs. Some were reluctant to deep their heads into the water at first, but with a bit of encouragement they were eventually able to do it. It was so refreshing to see a lot of RISK-TAKERS!
セントラル・フィットネス・センターに行くのは久しぶりだったので、今週のレッスンをみんな楽しみにしていました。コーチが小さなフープをプールに落とし、Auroraさんたちはそれを手や足で取ろうとした。最初は頭を水に浸けるのを嫌がる子もいましたが、少し励ますと、そのうちできるようになりました。たくさんのリスクテイカーを見るのはとてもいいものでした！
Phonics and the letter H
We wrapped up our study of upper case H. Some of the words we added to our vocabulary bank are helicopter, hand, house, heart, honey, hen, hammer, horse, head, hippo, hat and hog.
今週新たに「H」で始まる以下の単語を覚えました。helicopter（ヘリコプター）、hand（手）、house（家）、heart（心）、honey（蜂蜜）、hen（雌鶏）、hammer（ハンマー）、horse（馬）、head（頭）、hippo（カバ）、hat（帽子）、hog（豚）。
Gym
This week was our last gym lesson with Ms.Airi and we practised how to run around cones in preparation for the Sports Festival. Classes will resume in September, when the intensity of the heat lessens.
今週はあいり先生による最後のジムレッスンで、スポーツフェスティバルに向けてコーンの周りを走る練習をしました。暑さが和らぐ9月から、授業が再開されます。
Memory skills
On Wednesday we had a discussion aimed at reflecting back on our July 18th zoo visit. Most students remembered what they saw and what they heard from the zookeeper.
水曜日、私たちは7月18日の動物園訪問を振り返るためのディスカッションを行いました。ほとんどのAuroraさんたちは、動物園で見たこと、飼育員さんから聞いたことをよく覚えていました。
