This week might have been the peak of the Cherry Blossom season. The trees are in full bloom and the Milky Way kids are enjoying this scenery. Our walk to the park was made extra special by these delicate pinkish-white flowers and it’s hard not to fall in love! We made a special craft to celebrate this beautiful season and it turned out pretty amazing!
松本市の桜が満開になりました！Milky Wayのお友達は一年に一度のこの美しい季節を満喫しています。特に公園へのお散歩は、上品なピンク色の桜がひらひらと舞い落ちる中を歩き、特別な気分を味わっています。クラスでは桜の枝と花を一人ずつ画用紙に製作し、みんなの作品を組み合わせて大きな桜の木を作りました！スクールの廊下が、華やかに色づけられました。
This week we also started our first Unit of Inquiry, which is all about Healthy Habits. In groups, the students wrote down their ideas about being healthy and being unhealthy. It was quite fascinating to see how many ideas Milky Way students have about this topic. They were able to fill the whole paper! Then, we read a book about the different parts of our body and the importance of keeping all of them healthy. The students identified and labeled these body parts with their group mates. This unit is very timely and appropriate in our current situation and hopefully, the students will learn something that they can apply in their day to day life.
今年度最初に探求するUOIテーマは「Making responsible choices promotes health and well-being（責任ある選択は、健康で幸福な生活を促進する）」です。 今週は最初の探求テーマ「What means to be healthy（健康になるとはどういうことか）」に沿って、健康的な習慣について話し合いました。グループに分かれ、健康な状態と不健康な状態に対するみんなの考えを大きな紙に描きました。Milky Wayのみんなからたくさんのアイディアが飛び出し、大きな紙はあっという間に埋まってしまいました。その後、体のいろいろな部位に関する本を読み、それらの部位を健康に保つことが大切だという事を知りました。次のレッスンでは再度グループを作り、体の部位の名前が書かれたカードを人の体が書かれた大きな紙に貼り付けていきました。新型コロナウィルス感染を予防する毎日を送る現在にとってとてもタイムリーな話題なので、このユニットで学ぶことを毎日の生活に生かせるようになればと願っています。
In Math, we are learning to count past 100. The kids seemed to be enjoying this topic because we exercise while counting big numbers. It was an exercise for both our bodies and brains! We also had a special bingo where we identified numbers ranging from 1 – 200!
数の学習では、１００より大きな数を数える練習をしています。数える練習をしながらエクササイズをしているのでみんなとても楽しそうです。体と脳を同時に鍛えることが出来ています！1-200までの数字を使って、数字を認識するためのビンゴゲームも楽しんでいます。
