Shooting Star and Savanna September 11-15

This week was a busy week! We worked hard cooperating for our sports festival. It is getting so close! Everyone had to be extremely reflective to think about the routine, and how to improve any mistakes. We finished our costumes at home. Thank you parents, for all of your help!
For our IB unit, where we study the buildings in our community, we have been thinking about factories. We made pizzas as a way to explore factories. Savanna worked very hard to be inquirers, and think about where our food comes from, how it is made, and where it goes when it leaves a factory.
Shooting Star worked hard at being caring and open-minded. We have been practicing showing empathy and treating each other kindly. This worked with our continued talks about hospitals and other ‘helper’ buildings.
In class, we studied the letter ‘y’ and words that start with that sound. We also practiced our reading and writing. We have really started writing our own words and sentences. We are trying our best to spell words the way they sound, even if they are not perfect! Please help us with this at home!
Looking forward at the next two weeks, we will be finishing up our study of buildings soon. We will have a field trip to a factory. We will make models of more buildings and combine both classes’ hard work into a tiny city. We will talk about what we have learned, and act out roles of people who help the community. We will study the letters ‘d’ and ‘v’. We will continue to practice addition, measuring, and comparing. Plus, our sports festival is on Friday the 22nd!
The weather sounds like it might be very stormy over the three day weekend. Stay safe and dry, especially if you are traveling! See you on Tuesday!
