Fresh vegetables from our garden-Shooting Star-July 15th-19th

Greetings,

This week, Shooting Star class visited our school garden to check whether or not we could start harvesting our vegetables. Guess what? After two months we couldn’t believe that we could actually pick some green peppers and tomatoes. From the garden, we brought the fresh vegetables straight to the kitchen and asked the school cook to make a yummy dish for us. It made our lunch more enjoyable. Students commented, It’s yummy. I want more. Students also enjoyed picking basil leaves which they put in a small plastic bag and brought them home.

For our UOI, we engaged together to find out the insect body parts and what an insect is. We have concurred with the definition that an insect is a small animal that has three body parts (head, thorax, and abdomen), six legs, two antennae, two eyes, and that some insects have 4 wings and some are wingless. We have come up with this idea by examining the pictures presented to us and watching a video.

For our phonics, we learned reading the -en word family like ten, men, yen, hen, etc. After understanding the concept and reading them aloud, we worked quietly to do the matching worksheet activity. We’re getting better and better in reading CVC words.

On top of the above mentioned activities, we also had our Swimming, Gym,and Music lesson, water play at the school pool, and sandpit play. Students become involved in each and every task we do.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.
