Costumes tell a story-Shooting Star-September 30th-October 4th

Greetings,

This week was quiet free and easy after months of practices for Sports Festival. Aside from that, we had also finished our unit two inquiry about insects. And before we embark on unit three, we changed the scene of our classroom a bit with Halloween costumes and props. The students were very happy to see the costumes and were so excited to put them on. As they play dress up, their creative thinking, social skills, and communication skills are being stimulated. They loved pretending to be someone else whether spooky, funny, or fantastical. They have learned to communicate and negotiate with each other and share with whatever costumes available in our class. Hearing their stories while dressing up is truly fun.

All classes gathered in the piano room to celebrate the birthday of students born in September and one of them is from our class. After we sang the birthday song, Ms. Sayuri, who led the party entertained us with her towel magic. Thank you, Ms. Sayuri for hosting the birthday party.

Two of Shooting Star students have left ISN this week. The whole class gave them a farewell party. We watched Peppa Pig video, danced with Danny Go songs, and played musical chairs. Before the party ended, everyone gave an individual heart-warming message with a hug followed by giving out the farewell greeting cards from teachers.

We had Gym lesson and we did the somersault for the first time. Everyone tried doing it without any hesitation and the result was better than expected. Kudos, risk-takers.

Lastly, we had so much fun playing outside. But, wait! Something happened while we were engaging in play. Guess what? A stranger suddenly jumped over the fence and was trying to enter inside the school. The good thing was, while one of ISN staff was trying to block him by the door, we found our way to escape out of the gate. Bravo! Our loiterer drill was a great success! After the drill, students couldn’t stop talking about what happened outside and how we escaped from the stranger. They said, the stranger is scary but we do not cry.

Have a fantastic weekend everyone.
