The students have been learning about different kinds of scientists and what they study. We introduced this idea to show them that they can be word scientists. Just how other scientists study bugs, dinosaurs, rocks etc, they can study words and letters the same way.
フォニックスレッスンで今週子供達は、色々な分野で活躍をする科学者について学び、彼らが何を研究しているかなどについて話し合いました。このアイデアを子供達の活動に取り入れ、自分達もword scientistになれる！ということに気が付きました。科学者が昆虫や恐竜、岩などを研究するように、自分達にも単語やアルファベットを研究する事が出来ることに気が付きました。
Each student has an alphabet chart with letters and pictures on them. First, they had to study their own chart. What do the letters look like, what pictures do they see, why the picture is with that letter and so on. Once they finished this they moved on to studying other kinds of charts. They looked at a food alphabet chart and an animal alphabet chart. Afterwards they compared all three charts to see the similarities and differences.
子供達は一人ひとりアルファベットチャートを持っています。アルファベットはどんな形をしているのか、アルファベットと一緒に何の絵が描かれているか、なぜその絵が描かれているかに目を向けてみました。この活動が終了すると、子供達はまた別のチャートに移り、食べ物アルファベットチャートと動物アルファベットチャートを研究しました。後に子供達はこの3タイプのチャートを比較し、類似点と相違点を探します。
The last lesson of the week the students had to match different pictures to the first letter of the word on a blank alphabet chart. We guided the students to figure out the first sound of the word and what letter it is. This activity was used to teach the students how to find the first letter/sound of the word to guide them into later lessons where they will start writing and reading. We will study middle and ending sounds later in the units.
週の最後のレッスンでは、空欄のチャートを子供達が当てはまるアルファベットを貼り完成させました。子供達に初めのアルファベットは何かを尋ねて正しいアルファベットに導き完成させました。この活動は、これから学んでいく読み書きに相当役立つはずです。初まりのアルファベットに続き、今後は真ん中、最後のアルファベットにも焦点を当てていきます。
Lastly we finished our unit of inquiry this week. We reflected of what we learned this first unit that every family is different. We discussed how families are alike and different, family members have different roles and lastly how families are different around the world. The students have learned so much this unit and we look forward to unit two starting in July.
UOIに於いては遂に、今週で初めてのユニットが終了しました。every family is differentについての探究を振り返りました。それぞれの家族の似ている点や違う点を振り返り、家族メンバーの役割を話したり、世界の家族についても話し合いました。子供達は本当に沢山の事を学びました。来月からは新しいユニットが始まります。
