Last Friday, inspired by our visit to Toagariishi Museum, Grade 4 tried their hands at some pottery. We began by making flat, round bases and then slowly built up our pots with coils. When we had reached the desired size, we smoothed the sides of our vessels and then used chopsticks to add markings and patterns.
先週の金曜日、尖石縄文考古館を訪れて得たアイディアをもとに、G4クラスの皆で陶芸に挑戦しました。初めに平らな丸い台座を作り、次にコイル状にした粘土を使って少しずつ壺を作っていきました。好きな大きさの壺ができたら、器の側面を滑らかにして、割り箸を使ってでマークや模様を付けました。
The students seemed to enjoy both the messiness and feeling of molding the clay. This coming Friday they will be painting their creations.
生徒たちは、粘土を成形するときのいい感触と不思議な感触の両方を楽しんでいました。今週の金曜日に、その作品に絵を描く予定です。
We have also been continuing with our exploration of ancient cities and settlements. This week, the class were divided into pairs and have been researching 5 different ancient cities to share with the class this Friday in presentations.
また、古代都市と居住地についての調査も続けています。今週はペアに分かれ、5つの異なる古代都市を調査し、金曜日にクラスでプレゼンテーションを行います。
If you have time before Friday, please ask your child to share with you what they have learned from this project.
