Our work, our fun, our family

Our ISN Elementary Class Open Day was a wonderful way to complete the end of our last unit of inquiry for this 2017/2018 school year. We would like to thank all the families who were able to attend on the day and to those who could not attend we look forward to seeing you soon when you next have a chance to visit.
Planning this Open Day, students thought about what they would like to show their families which included: what they have done over the course of this unit as well as what they can do now. Therefore we spent the day doing a variety of activities; some of these were: telling all about the environments we constructed; recording important and interesting information after viewing a short documentary; completing some math problems; looking at live micro-organisms under the microscope; and playing some of our favourite games. The students also set up a rock museum where they displayed some of the rocks they had collected on one of our excursions to the river. These displays and the environments they created will be on display for the next few weeks for even more people to enjoy.
Next week we are excited to be preparing to move to our new classroom on the second floor of our building. We also look forward to the ISN Elementary Grade One Welcome Ceremony. Next year’s grades 2, 3, 4, 5 students have prepared a special song to sing and they have also prepared other words of encouragement. Certainly it is exciting to be starting a new school year.
