ISN students are hungry…FOR FOOD CHAIN KNOWLEDGE!

Good day!
The project has been focusing these past weeks on the different types of animals in the food chain as well as how the energy and chemicals travel throughout the food chain. Project students are showing their knowledgeable and their reflective learner profiles by practicing their understanding of the consequences of poison and pollution in the food chain. We are studying this in an attempt to encourage student initiated action and having students be aware of their environment. Our science vocabulary has increased tremendously as has our grammar. We have been practicing comparatives, superlatives, past participles, and indicative articles. In math we have begun to study and understand American currency.
Students have continued to thrive in their typing practice with many of our students now being able to type all the letters on the keyboard without looking at the board and typing at an advanced level.
One of the more exciting additions to the project has been our Sumdog program. It is an engaging, evidence based learning program that adjusts itself to the student’s level and assists them with their math, reading, and writing abilities through fun games. With every game they play students win coins, with which they may buy items for their in-game house or articles of clothing for their avatar. Students have been thoroughly enjoying.
Project students have also been playing capture the flag a lot in preparation for the sports festival in October.
Keep checking back with us for more exciting updates!
