The second experiment in class was all about gravity. We did two activities for this lesson. The first activity was trying to find out whether items would go down faster or slower than another object. We used a paper ball, a rock, a magnet, and a rubber ball. We found out that the mass of the object as well as air resistance would affect the speed of objects falling.

今週は重力に関する実験をしました。ここでは2つの実験を行いました。最初は、あるものが他のものより早く落ちるか、ゆっくり落ちるかを調べました。紙のボール、石、磁石、ゴムボールを使いました。物体の質量と空気抵抗が、物体の落下速度に影響を与えることがわかりました。
The next thing that we did was to try to figure out which items inside the classroom are magnetic and non-magnetic.
次に、教室内のどのようなものが磁気を帯びていて、どのようなものが磁気を帯びていないのかを調べました。
We also wanted to defy gravity with the use of magnetism. We were all successful and were super happy to see our floating paperclips!
また、磁力を使って重力に逆らうこともやってみました。みんな大成功で、浮いているクリップを見て大喜びでした！
During our extra time, we were able to watch a short video clip about magnetism and the different metals that are magnetic and non-magnetic. We even tried testing coins because it’s all made of different metals.
余った時間には、磁気についての短い動画を見て、磁気を帯びる金属と帯びない金属の違いを確認しました。また、硬貨はすべて異なる素材でできているため、硬貨も調べてみました。
By the way, we have been practicing for the sports day. Here we are trying to run faster than the rest of the class.
一方、子どもたちは運動会に向けて走る練習もしています。お友達より速く走ろうと一生懸命走っていました！
