The Grade One students at ISN have been working really hard on their second unit of inquiry. The central idea is: Homes show personal identity and culture. We discussed houses around the world, and discovered what makes traditional houses unique. We made our own original city to show how personal identity and culture shape our environments. Everyone was so creative, and showed great cooperation!
Grade One created their own class slogan this month: Try Everything! Every day we sing a song of the same title, as well as another song called “Get Back Up Again”. These songs remind us to never give up, and always try something new. All Grade One students have been loving singing these songs, and most have memorized the lyrics. Perhaps some day soon, we could put on a performance….
Speaking of performances, we have creating our own mini plays based on a book called “The Drum”. The story is about how being kind positively affects the world. Each student has started writing their own script, and soon we will be practicing the play.
グレード1のみんなは、2番目のUnit of Inquiry（探究の概念）に頑張って取り組んでいます。セントラルアイディアは、 “Homes show personal identity and culture（家は、パーソナルアイデンティティーと文化を示す）”です。世界中の家についてデイスカッションを行い、伝統的な家のユニークな特徴を発見しました。パーソナルアイデンティティーと文化がどのように環境を作っているか独自の町を作りました。みんな協力し合いながら、とてもクリエイティブに町を作っていました。
今月のクラススローガンを決めました。毎日、Try Everything!と「Get Back Up Again」という歌を歌っています。これらの曲は、私たちに決してあきらめない、常に新しいことに挑戦するということを思い起こさせてくれます。グレード1のみんなは、これらの歌を歌うのが大好きで、ほとんどの子が歌詞を覚えています。近々、披露（パフォーマンス）することができるかもしれませんね。
パフォーマンスといえば、The Drumという本を基に、自分たちでミニストーリーを作っています。親切がどのように世界に良い影響を与えるかというお話です。それぞれ自分のスクリプト（台本）を書き始めました。近いうちに、作ったストーリーを練習します。
