Hello and welcome to another week of fantastic, fun-filled learning opportunities for all of our Shooting Star superstars!
今週もシューティングさんにとって楽しく学べる機会がたくさんの１週間となりました！
✅ Unit of Inquiry
We’ve just started our second line of inquiry, “How living creatures grow.” For our prior assessment, we answered the worksheet by matching the baby living creatures to adult ones. We tried to develop our thinking skills through analyzing. Everyone strived being a thinker. We watched the Life Cycle of a Butterfly video, then we grouped ourselves into four groups. The teachers gave each group the cut out life cycle of a butterfly (eggs, caterpillar, chrysalis, and butterfly). Each group talked about it, which one’s first, second and so on and they stuck them on the numbers indicated. Then, they presented their task in front of the class. It was amazing how Shooting Star class worked as a team. Kudos!
今週からUnit2の2つ目のテーマ “How living creatures grow.” （生き物や昆虫はどのようにして育つか）の探求が始まりました！
まず初めに、生き物がどのようにして育つかについて、どれ位の知識があるのかを確認する為にワークシートをしました。
このワークシートでは幼虫と成虫の写真を線で結びます。みんな”Thinking Skill”（考えるスキル）を使って一生懸命考えながら取り組んでいました✨
そして今週は「蝶々」にフォーカスした探求をしました🦋
蝶々のライフサイクルに関するビデオや紙芝居を見た後に、グループ毎に「蝶々はどのようにして育つか？」について話し合いながら お友達と協力し合って 「卵、青虫、さなぎ、蝶」の4つの写真を並べ替えました。グループで話し合った結果をみんなの前で発表しながら、蝶々が育つ順番についてクラス全体で確認をしました！
お友達と英語でコミュニケーションを取りながら話し合いが出来ていて素晴らしかったです👏
✅ Craft
We made a butterfly! But before that, Ms. Miyu read a story about the Butterfly Life Cycle for us in Japanese. We got so fascinated with this insect because of its colorful wings. So, for our craft, Shooting Star class cut out the butterfly template with scissors, then, painted one side of the butterfly paper, folded the other half of the paper over the paint to create a paint sandwich. Then pressed, and rubbed with our hands. Finally, we opened the paper to reveal our symmetrical butterfly painting!

蝶々の成長についての絵本を読み、更に理解を深めました✨
本に出てくるキレイな蝶々に魅了されたシューティングさん🦋紙を蝶々の形に切り、紙の片側だけ絵の具でペイントし、もう片側を重ね合わせると絵の具が転写し紙を開くと左右対称のキレイな模様の羽根が出来上がりです✨
✅ Phonics
I Can Hop. We started practice reading this book with op and ot word family. First, we went through each page to find the op and ot word family, encircled op words orange and ot word ra green. Then we read through together. It was fun!

“op” “ot”が付く単語を練習しながら本を読む練習を始めました！
全てのページのop,otが付く単語を探し、opはオレンジ色で囲み、otは緑で囲みました。一つ一つの単語を確認しながらみんなで読む練習をしました！
一人一冊与えられた本に、みんな大喜びでした♩
✅ Stranger Drill
We had a Stranger Drill this week. As soon as we learned that there was a stranger coming in, we gathered together and hid in a safe place, locked the door and turned off the light. We then discussed how to be safe when there’s a real stranger tricking us. Shooting Star class clearly understood that we should never talk to a stranger.
今週はストレンジャードリルがありました。
知らない人が保育園の中に入って来た事を想定し、安全な場所に隠れ、先生達はドアのカギを掛け電気を消し、静かに待機する練習をしました。
また、知らない人が話しかけてきた時にどの様にして身を守るかについて「いかのおすし」の話をし、知らない人には決してついて行ってはいけないという事を理解しました！
✅ Water Play
Summer is perfect time to explore, and there’s nothing more fun than spending time in the water. Water play helps improve our balance and strength. We pretend like insects and other living creatures by walking and moving like one. We can experiment without worrying about falling or crashing into hard surfaces. It’s fun!
夏は探検にぴったりの季節です🌞そして、水遊び以上に楽しい事はありません！水遊びはバランス感覚を養ったり、体力の向上に役立ちます！
水の中で蝶々やカエルなどの生き物にりきって、転んだり固い所にぶつかる心配をする事無く思いっきり体を動かす事ができます！
