Hello everyone,
We are still keep going about “geography”.
One day we all drew pictures of each Geography on the big paper.
Also, we are learning about new geography words like, “Tundra”.
The tundra is a cold, dry, windy area with little rainfall. The ground is frozen for much of the year. In japan, we have tundra in only very high mountains like Mt.Fuji or so. It is not so familiar with us but it was very fun to learn some new English words!
Last time, we did “Geography picture KARUTA”.
We put some pictures of what we are learning recently on the class room floor.
And the teacher says ex) “Island!”then students need to touch the correct picture of Island.
This is like one of traditional Japanese card game which is popular for Pre-school and Elementary school kids.
There was some tricky pictures between “Forest” and “Rain forest”. When the teacher ask them “What is the differences in between these two?”, students answer it and re-correct them.
They tried their best during the KARUTA game.

放課後Project Bでは先週に引き続き世界の地理/地質に関して学んでいます。
ある時はみんなで大きな紙にそれぞれチームに分かれて各Geographyの絵を描きました。
また、”ツンドラ”という新たなGeographyに関する言葉を学びました。
ツンドラとは一年のほどんどが寒く、乾燥し、降水量が年間でとても少ない気候地域の事をいいます。常に地面が氷に覆われているような地域です。
日本には富士山や高い山々のごく一部をそう呼ぶということで私たち、もちろん子供たちにもあまり馴染みがありませんでしたが、新しい言葉を学ぶことをとても楽しんでいる様子でした。
そして、先週の金曜日には”Geographyかるた”を行い、盛り上がりました。
学んでいるそれぞれのGeographyに関する写真を使用します。例えば先生が”Island！”と言った際にIslandの写真をタッチするという簡単なゲームですが、かるたのルールを知っている生徒たちも”森”と”熱帯雨林”の違いが見た目では難しく、その時には”森にはカラフルでトロピカルな動物はいるかな？”などヒントをあげるとひらめいた様に正解の写真を選びます。皆とてもはりきって頑張っていました。
