Due to the Obon holidays, the past two weeks have been short ones, but the weather has finally cooled down, so the students got to enjoy spending more time doing outdoor activities. 🌳
On last Monday, we went to a water treatment plant near the ISN Shimauchi campus. The helpful staff explained everything about the process of cleaning polluted sewer water and the importance of keeping the rivers clean by allowing only the clean water into them. They also took us on a tour around the facility.
This Friday, we have visited the Chihiro museum in Azumino city. This museum shows the work and life of Chihiro Iwasaki, known for drawing children and flowers. After that, we went to the nearby wasabi farm, where the helpful staff talked to the students about the process of growing wasabi and we enjoyed walking through the beautiful nature of the farm. 👨🌾
We also had lessons on the major cities and transportation of Nagano prefecture, tying in nicely with the main theme of the Summer programme. We also talked about keeping our environment nice and clean through recycling and how waste should be properly sorted.
Some new teachers joined us in these two weeks as well, and we said goodbye to some students. We hope everyone had fun and let’s all meet up again soon! 😊
先週と今週はお盆休みのため登校日が少なかったです。天気も段々と涼しくなってきましたので、児童たちは待ちに待った外遊びを楽しむことができました。
先週の月曜日は、島内キャンパスの近くにある宮渕浄化センターへ見学に行きました。親切な職員の方に汚染された下水を浄化する工程を説明していただき、実際にセンター内も見学することができました。きれいな水に浄化して川に戻し、川の水をきれいに保つことの重要性を教えていただきました。
今週の金曜日は、松川村にある岩崎ちひろの生涯と作品が展示されているちひろ美術館へ校外学習に行きました。子どもの水彩画で有名な多くの作品と絵本に触れることができました。芝生でお弁当を美味しく頂いた後は、大王わさび農場へ行きました。親切なガイドさんがわさびの栽培について歩きながら説明してくれました。天気も暑すぎず、美しい自然を見ながら、わさび園の散策を楽しみました！
今回のサマープログラムのテーマにつながる、長野県の主要都市や交通についても学びました。
そして、来週リサイクル会社へ見学に行きますので、予習としてゴミをどのように適切に分別し、リサイクルを通じて環境をきれいに保つかについて話し合いました。
この2週間で何人かのサマープログラム参加者とお別れをしました。みんなに楽しんでいただけたなら嬉しいです。みんな、また会おうね！
