What an amazing week!
From farm drama in the classroom practicing our play for the ISN Christmas Show to farm work harvesting crops on a real farm, students in our Elementary Class have certainly been active in their learning both on and off the stage.
Starting with the characters from a well-known nursery rhyme about a farmer, students have not only made up their own story but have converted it into a play which we will perform at the ISN Christmas Show in December. We are currently making the final adjustments to the play script with lots of excellent ideas being put forward.
This week we also had the pleasure of visiting a real farm in our school neighbourhood. We picked persimmons and grapes, learned how to get the spiky husk off chestnuts and cook them, and like pirates digging for treasure, we dug up many potatoes from the rich soil. We definitely had lots of fresh produce to eat and lots to take home to share with our families.

クリスマスショーで発表する農場の劇の練習や、実際に近隣の農家の方の畑で収穫体験をさせていただき、スクール内外両方で盛りだくさんの学びをすることができました。
“old McDonald Had A Farm”という有名な歌を参考に、自分たちで物語を作り、それを１２月に行われるクリスマスショー劇用にアレンジしました。現在、皆で素晴らしいアイディアを出し合いながら最終段階の調整に力を入れています。
そして今週は、近隣の農家の方の畑を訪ね、柿、ぶどうを収穫したり、栗のいがから実を取り出すか試した後に調理の仕方を学んだり、初めてのことに挑戦する姿が見られました。宝探しをするように、ジャガイモを見つけて掘り出すのも楽しかったです。新鮮な野菜や果物を収穫できたことも何よりですが、それをお家に持ち帰って家族にお話したり、食事に取り入れられたのは一番の豊作でした！
