Lights, Camera, Action!

For the last couple of weeks, EC has been continuously rehearsing their play for the upcoming ISN Christmas show. Their scripts have been constantly sent home in order for them to master and know
As part of our IB theme and central idea, EC has been learning about arts and drama to help them showcase their creativity. They have learned that being creative is tantamount to being resourceful. We went out for a walk and gathered some fresh and fallen leaves on the ground and used them as craft materials. They made and decorated their own squirrel`s tail with leaves.
Last week, we also had the chance to have a quick creative cartooning session with Mr. Justin. He taught EC the basics of drawing and they were able to draw a wolf by using simple cartooning techniques. Moreover, Ms. Bethle introduced drama and acting. EC had fun portraying different roles as animals, palm trees, etc. during the activity called Bippity, Boppity, Bop! The students have learned the importance of having focus in whatever they do and having to show strong emotions and big actions when doing stage plays or drama in order to show their creative and flexible sides.
We also did story-writing wherein the students learned the basic parts of a story (title, beginning, middle, end). They used their imagination in order to come up and write their own short stories with proper capitalization of letters, spelling and punctuation.
In maths, we tackled subtraction through the use of number line, tens and units, fractions (halves and quarters), areas of shapes, 5-digit numbers and time facts. We also had individual conferences regarding their daily journals and math workbooks to complete their weekly contract.
It snowed quite heavily last Thursday and the fields including the exercise track got covered with snow so EC had the opportunity to play outside and made snowballs and snow angels on the ground. They are all excited for the winter to come!
Finally, we would like to thank the parents who came and had lunch with us last November 18th and the students are excited to have Ms. Brigitte back from Australia!
Have a lovely weekend, everyone!
