Past generations

Do the ideas of people in the past still help us today?
Our final IB unit for the 2016/2017 school year has certainly engaged the students of ISN Elementary Class. From Michangelo to Helen Keller, students have researched many very interesting characters and enjoyed thinking, discussing and evaluating just how helpful their ideas are for people today.
Students completed the reading of the novel “Helen Keller”. During this experience students began to understand just how important their senses are for learning, and for understanding the world around them. Their conclusion was that Helen helped people understand that every person can learn even if they have a disability. We have all enjoyed reflecting and appreciating the use of our own senses for learning.
This week we have also been very busy starting our gardening again. With the warmer weather comes digging, watering and planting seeds. Carrots, lettuces and flowers will now grow from our little garden plots as well as the very hardy lettuces and carrots which have amazingly survived all winter!
This week we had a fondu party to celebrate the end of the school year. We also sadly say goodbye to 2 of our students so it was nice to be able to give them some cards and flowers to show that we will miss them and we hope to see them again.
