G3 Lights, camera… art!

Collages…

This week we have been finishing our self-portrait collages. In previous classes we looked at the work of Dada artists from the early 20th Century and specifically, their use and development of collage techniques. The Dada philosophy was also one were anything could be considered art, from bicycles to upturned urinals and all else between.

Grade 3 utilized mixed-media in their portraits, first creating “digital palettes”, then printing these out and cutting and pasting them on to their hanging canvas. They were also encouraged to use pencil, crayon, marker, paint to further express themselves.

Action!

With scripts in hand and the smell of grease paint beckoning, we have embarked on our theatrical odyssey “Avatar: The Last Cabbage”. We watched the final show of the TV series together, which brought us up until the moment where our own story begins. Everyone was very excited by the finale of the series and I shed a tear or two myself in the final few episodes. Powerful stuff!

From now until December 18th all members of the production are required to be “learning their lines”. Some have already taken the bull by the horns and have made large strides in memorizing. Bravo!

I would encourage family members, if possible, to be helping with reading scripts together now. Only 25 (school) days until showtime.

Have a great week everyone!
