“I get up, and nothing gets me down!”
Well, nothing is keeping the 1st graders down as they practice jump roping during gym class. Good old gravity was finding it hard to keep all of the students down—there was so much energy!
The 1st grade students also did workstations that pertained to our new Unit of Inquiry and our new Central Idea—that people’s homes reflect their personal identity and culture. The students drew and colored the flags of various countries that captured their interest, worked together to make a home out of Legos, played a board game about things found in the home, and did a map quiz. They were aided along the way by the parents that stopped by to visit our class for the day. Many thanks to all who came—we were happy to have you there!
We all cannot wait to discover more about people’s homes around the world, and the myriad of cultures that have shaped them.
