G3/4 has started to form a team where everyone can be a leader. They are big enough, physically and mentally, to help themselves and also others, and can carefully reflect when they make mistakes. After a class discussion the students have re-organised their class helpers’ roles and tasks to define their jobs and responsibilities even more clearly than before.
In the morning meeting, we discussed ALT (Approaches to Learning) and what types of skills we’d want to work on during UOI lessons and throughout the day.
“Everyone can be a leader” is a new concept for the class, and the G3/4 students have not only shown their understanding of “each one of us affects the team performance” but put the idea into practice… 🙂 They keep their eyes on the clock (Self-management skills – time management), correct inappropriate behaviour (Social skills – communication), initiate team actions (Self management skills – self-motivation/mindfulness ), and share their own ideas (Thinking skills – analysing) found in the vast amount of data they have encountered (Research skills – gathering and recording), and so on.
During LOI1; “AI can be seen in various industries in our society (function)” , we have looked at AI that is used in airports, streets, art production laboratories, hospitals, and in new product show rooms. The students enjoyed a visit to an AI factory where they obtained a hands-on experience with a working 3D printer robot.
In LOI2, “Investigating my own style in art would help me to create unique AI robots (connection)”, the students have chosen their favourite Henri Matisse art creation. and discussed in small groups why they like the ones that they picked. In the discussion of how Art and AI can be interlinked in our society, most of the students realised that art can be a form of how we express ourselves, and some of them found that it’d make people happier if AI robots are made with an essence of their unique and friendly artistic ideas. They also worked on AI timeline activities in four teams.
They also had an opportunity to draw a person’s face in realistic proportion. They were surprised to see the actual balance of their facial features….:)
The students re-defined the value they have in “This is who I want to be” activities. There the students discussed and displayed their thoughts in four categories; Interests, Future Job Ideas, ATL(skills) and LP in a mind-map.
With the new Art corner, we look forward to demonstrating our individual and unique learning experiences.

クラスで当番やいろいろなタスクがあるG3/4の生徒たちは、これまでリーダーに仕事を任せたり、気が付く一部の人のみが、クラスをまとめたりする場面がありました。いたずらしたり、忘れてしまったりする人だけがいけないのか、そのほかの人たちはバイスタンダーになっていなかったか、話し合い、最終的に一人一人が主体的にチーム作りに参加しない限り、チームは前に進む事が出来ないアイディアが生まれました。ヘルパーの割り当てや、仕事内容をより明確にして、一日どんなATL(Approaches To Learning)のスキルを使っていきたいか、話し合いました。
リーダーの役、はやってきたけれど、一人一人が毎日リーダーになる!のは、G3/4で改めて新しいコンセプトです。いろんなタイプのリーダーがいていい。一人一人のパフォーマンスがチームに大きく影響する、事を理解するだけでなく、行動に移し始めました… 🙂 より多くのメンバーが時計を気にして、チームに呼びかけして行動できるようになっています (Self-management skills – time management)。ふざけているチームメンバーに注意するのもお互いの役割 (Social skills – communication), 自分が主導して片付けやディスカッション等を始める (Self management skills – self-motivation/mindfulness), アイディアのシェア (Thinking skills – analysing) 沢山の情報の中から選んだり記録したり (Research skills – gathering and recording), 等々…
LOI 1(Lines Of Inquiry1); “AI は私たちの社会のいろんな産業でみられはじめている (機能)” , の探求で、AIが空港や、道路、アートを創るAIロボット、病院、ショールームなどで働くAIロボットのビデオを観て、ディスカッションし、文章に表しました。AIの工場見学に行き、AI の３Dプリンターなどを実際に見る機会に生徒たちは大変興奮していました。
LOI2, “アートを理解することで、自分らしいユニークなAI robotを創作するアイディアに繋がる (繋がり)”では、自分の好きな Henri Matisseのアートワークを選ぶ、なぜそれが良いと思ったかグループでアイディアをシェアしました。 私達の社会で、アートとAIの関係って？のディスカッションでは、自分達の表現の仕方が自分たちの作るフレンドリーなAIロボットに反映されると、それを使う人達は嬉しく楽しくなるだろうというアイディアにまとまりました。 AIの歩みも、タイムラインで表しました。
Sophiaの存在を知って、AIと人間とアートの話し合いをした後に、人間の顔を実際のプロポーションでデッサンする練習をしました。新しく作られたアートコーナーを使って、よりユニークな学びの結果を、自分達らしい形で表せていけたら良いなと思います。
