Shooting Star had a fantastic week culminating in the Sports Festival Friday! Thank you to all the parents and family who attended and participated! We worked so hard to show you our skills and abilities in running, throwing balls, and performing our parachute routine! Thank you!
Shooting Star wanted to say, “Happy Grandparents Day!” Hope you all have a wonderful day! We love you.
We have had the opportunity to get outside and go on a nature walk. We looked for and found many different kinds and colors of leaves. We collected them, but they curled up and didn’t look good afterward.
One morning this week, a few classmates were working hard to finish their writing books. One of the biggest challenges in writing is following the lines and not getting lost. One student, seeing their struggle, stepped up to the white board after he was finished and pointed to each word for each of the two remaining students until they were finished. It was a beautiful moment. I took a picture. Just a reminder that there is so much good and care and respect that Shooting Star have learned and are learning each day!
We will be adding a new feature to our wall beginning in October. We have started putting it up and I have explained to Shooting Star the basic principles. It’s call a Wonder Wall. The word wonder is not a common word, so we added the word, question. When I said, Question Wall, Shooting Star understood the purpose. There is a picture of each student looking thoughtful with a word bubble next to their head. What are they thinking? We will write down a sentence of what each student is thinking each month as we go into our new theme: Stories from Around the World.

スポーツフェスティバル、シューティングスターのお友達は皆本当によく頑張りましたね！”I’m here!”と大きな声で言って並び、精一杯ゴールまで走ることができました。玉入れでは玉を投げることもなかなか難しかったですが、当日はたくさんのボールを投げ入れることができました。そして、パラシュートでは何度も練習を繰り返し、皆で息を合わせて動くことができました。スポーツフェスティバルにお越しくださり、保護者競技に参加していただいたり、子どもたちの応援をしていただいたり、ご家族の皆さん、本当にありがとうございます。
一週間雨が降りっぱなしでしたが、雨上がり後のお散歩をすることができました。いろいろな形や色をした葉っぱを探し、”Look, this it funny!” と言ってお友達と拾った葉っぱを見て笑いあったり”I found a cricket!”といって虫を熱心に探したりする子もいました。たくさんの発見をすることができるお散歩となりました。
ある朝のライティングの時間では、とても微笑ましい光景が見られました。ライティングは３行ほど（多い時は４行から５行）の文章をノートに書くということは、自分がどこを書いているのか見失わずに、進めていくのがチャレンジでもあります。その日は、早くに書き終えたお友達がまだ書いているお友達の助けをしてあげていました。ホワイトボードの横に立って、次はここと１文字ずつ示してあげていました。その時の様子も下の写真にあります。子どもたちは日々お友達に優しくすること、大切にすること、など感じながら生活しています。
来月からはWonder Wallというものを活用していきます。Wonderというのは、疑問に思うや考えるという意味で、子どもたちにはQuestionという言葉がしっくりときたそうなのでQuestion Wallとも呼びます。これは来月からの新しいIBテーマ『世界中のお話』について子どもたちが疑問に思っていることなどを、壁に貼ってある顔写真と吹き出しの中に書いていきます。みんな上手に何かを考えている表情をしてくれたので、写真もとても可愛らしく撮れました！
