It’s a brand new year! Warmest greetings to all. Aurora crossed out the month of December 2019 on our class calendar and changed it to 2020 January.
新しい年の始まりです。明けましておめでとうございます。オーロラクラスでは、カレンダーを2019年から2020年に切り替え新しい年を迎えました。
We will be working on a new IB Theme “Sharing the Planet” – how people and animals share this earth. Our first line of inquiry examines animals and their habitats. Our classroom IB wall displays the different animals and their habitats – the jungle (forest), ocean, African savanna (grassland), polar regions, farmland animals and even pet animals. Aurora helped with sorting the photographs of the animals as we worked on the 2 habitats- jungle and ocean.
今月から新しいIBテーマ “Sharing the Planet” 「地球の共有（私たちは動物と共にどのように地球を共有しているか）」の探求をしています。最初の探求は、動物とその生息地についてです。教室のIBボードには、ジャンブル（森）、海、サバンナ（大草原）、極地、牧場、ペット動物などの生息地別に様々な動物が飾られました。ジャングルと海に住む動物について話し合った際に、オーロラさん達に動物の写真を生息地別に分けて貼り付けてもらいました。
For Phonics, we will be moving on to digraphs. This week we studied /sh/ and as in sheep, shoes, shapes. We did our letter hunts and Aurora was really good at spotting these digraphs.
フォニックスの学習では、2文字子音が入った単語を読む練習を始めました。今週は sheep（羊）, shoes（靴）, shapes（形）に含まれるshの音を学びました。スパイグラスを使って教室の中のshを探しました。みんなたくさんのshを見いつけることが出来ました。
For Literacy, we will start writing lowercase letters and reviewing our uppercase letters. This week was letter Aa and students used age-appropriate triangular pencils for tracing. For a bit of sensorial fun in our learning, we traced on a tray of flour.
読み書きの練習では、小文字を書く練習を始め、大文字の復習もしました。今週は Aa の練習をして、みんなの手に合う大きさの三角鉛筆を使って文字を書きました。紙の上に文字を書く前には、トレーに入れた小麦粉を使って文字を書く楽しみを経験しました。
Aurora has been eagerly anticipating the first music class of 2020. Their very own pianicas to practise! Their first lesson was an introduction of the instrument. They managed to get play a note or two. みんなが楽しみにしていたピアニカのレッスンが今週から始まりました！ドの音の見つけ方を教わり、そこに赤いシールを貼りました。ホースをつないで実際に吹いてみると、みんな同じ音が鳴ってびっくり！ボールをにぎる時のように、手を丸めて弾くように教わりました。最後はつば抜きをして、きれいに自分で片付ける練習もしました。お家でも是非やってみてください。
We caught a few days of good weather and played in the park and schoolyard. Till next Tuesday, have a great long weekend!
