Winter is approaching and the weather got much colder this week! The mountains around the campus even got snow caps. We hope everyone is staying warm! ❄️
In the Upper Elementary Class, we are as busy as ever preparing for the Christmas performance. With only four weeks left to go, the props need to be made, the dances need to be choreographed and the lines need to be practiced. It’s as if the classroom has turned into a big acting trope and the atmosphere is filled with thoughts of journeys, ships, beautiful costumes and polishing everyone’s acting skills. It seems like the whole campus is living for the Christmas performance. 😄
The students have tried and successfully choreographed a very special dance for their play – the hat and cane dance. The dance uses the famous “Top hat, white tie and tails” music from the 1930s and is dedicated to big movie musical stars of the time like Fred Astaire. The students have thought of the dance steps entirely by themselves in a very short time, showing amazing levels of co-operation and creativity. They were inspired by the videos they saw and incorporated some games in the steps too. Even their teachers were left in awe. This week, the class started painting the backdrops for the performance too. Since the real 1930s ship would be full of passengers, they have decided to paint people who will be used in the background of the stage as extras. This wasn’t any simple painting, though – the figures had to be traced in pencil by their teachers, after which the students had to determine which colours and clothing styles would suit best to the period. The painting had to be precise to include many detail, but they also had to master quick, long strokes to cover more area, since the people are life-sized. There are some very talented artists among the students. 🎨
On this Sunday, in addition to regular Saturday’s camp, a big number of students and their parents are going to take a trip together to Tirolin forest. We will enjoy the beautiful nature and a pizza-making workshop. Please join us if you can! Have a lovely weekend. ❤️
冬が近づいてきましたね。今週は、ますます寒くなってきました。学校から見える山々も雪をかぶりました。皆さん、暖かくしてお過ごしくださいね。❄️
UECクラスでは、クリスマスパフォーマンスの準備に大忙しです。残り1ヶ月、小道具を準備して、振り付けを完成させ、ライン（並び）も練習する必要があります。まるで教室一体が、劇団になったかのようです。演技に磨きをかけ、教室は美しい衣装、船、旅の雰囲気に満たされています。キャンパス全体がクリスマスパフォーマンスに向けて頑張っています。😄
スペシャルダンス「帽子と杖」の振り付けに挑戦し、上出来な仕上がりとなりました。フレッド・アステアのような時代の大きなミュージカル映画スターに捧げる1930年代の有名な「Top hat, white tie and tails 」という曲を使います。驚くべき協力と創造力で、短時間に自分達でダンスステップ全体を考えました。みんなで見たビデオからヒントを得て、いくつかゲームをステップに取り入れました。これには、先生達も大変関心しました。もしパフォーマンスをご覧になりたい方は、ISNオフィスまでどうぞ！🎭
今週は、劇の背景幕を描き始めました。1930年代の本物の船は乗客で満員だっただろうと想像し、エクストラの役者をステージの背景に描くことにしました。絵を塗るのは簡単ではありませんでした。先生達が鉛筆で映像より敷き写し、子ども達でどの衣装や色が当時のものに一番合うかを決めました。細部まで細かく描き、実物大のエキストラの絵なので、広い部分を長いストロークで早く塗るのをマスターしなければなりませんでした。中にはとても絵の才能があるアーティストがいましたよ！🎨
