The Elementary Class students started their week by finishing their last unit of inquiry. The students discussed their findings with their classmates, chose the work they think is relevant for the unit and wrote their own impressions of their work on the assessment sheets.
They have also started a new and exciting Unit of Inquiry! This one is dealing with migrations and students will start off their learning with a central idea full of learning potential: “People migrate for economic, social, political and environmental reasons”. What are these reasons and what does the journey of migration look like? We will find out together during the next two months.
The students are naturally very interested in the animal world and seemed excited to find out more about the animals who migrate, like bird, sharks and deer. They are also full of ideas as to why people would migrate from one country to another as some of them have already migrated themselves.
Starting a new unit doesn’t mean that we will forget everything we learned about in the previous one: the students are still thinking of how to implement their ideas to make their school a better place and the little garden in front of the campus building seems to be progressing good as well.
It rained a bit this week, but the students were still able to get some exercise in, as we played with exercise balls and watched an exercise video. Hopefully next week is more sunny, though. Have a nice weekend!
アッパーエレメンタリークラスでは、今週初めは、４月から取り組んでいた探求の概念（Unit of Inquiry）の締めくくりを行いました。クラスメートと各自がこのユニットを通して学んだことを話し合ったり、ユニットに関連する今まで取り組んできたことを選び、それについて感想を評価シートに書きました。
その後、エキサイティングな新ユニットを開始しました。子供たちは、“People migrate for economic, social, political and environmental reasons”という、学びの可能性が一杯のセントラルアイディアに取り組み始めました。これから２ヶ月間、移住についてや、どうして移住するかなどを皆で探究していきます。
子供たちは、当然ながら動物の世界にとても興味があり、鳥、サメ、鹿のように動物の移住についてもっと詳しく知りたいとワクワクしているようです。また、人々は、なぜ、別の国へ移住するのか、各自が色々な意見を持っています。
新しいユニットが始まっても、みんな前回のユニットで学んだことをもちろん忘れてはいません。より良い学校を築いていく為のアイディアを実施しようとしている様子が見受けられて嬉しいです。
学校前の小さな畑の種や苗も順調に育っています！
今週は、雨が降りましたが、エクササイズボールで遊んだりエクササイズビデオを見たりして楽しめました！
