Hello, everyone!
We have reached the best time of the year! That is Unit 4! This is mostly about expressing ourselves through visual and performing arts. We’ve always loved drawing, coloring, painting, and performing which made us so excited about this unit.
いい季節になりましたね。UOIではユニット4に入りました。このユニットでは、主にビジュアルアートやパフォーミングアートを通して自分自身を表現します。皆、絵を描いたり、色を塗ったり、絵の具を使ったり、パフォーマンスをしたりすることが大好きなので、このユニットをとても楽しみにしています。
For our first week, we learned about a very famous American artist named Jackson Pollock. We started the activity with a performance on how we would interpret the painting through our actions/gesture. The class would need to guess by saying a word based on what they see.
第1週目は、ジャクソン・ポロックというアメリカの有名なアーティストについて学びました。活動の最初は、私たちの行動やジェスチャーでどのように絵を表現/解釈するかというアクティビティを行いました。子どもたちは、自分達が見た絵から推測するものを言葉で次々と発表しました。
We were so amazed with the kind of painting he does. We didn’t know that you could be moving and dancing around while painting at the same time! Action painting as what they call it lets you move your body freely as you paint. You could even use other tools aside from a brush. We were a bit loud when we did our painting since some of us would go in circles sing and dance around the paper on the floor.
彼が行うペインティングの種類にとても驚きました。絵を描きながら体を動かしたり踊ったりできるとは知りませんでした。アクション・ペインティングと呼ばれるもので、体を自由に動かしながら絵を描く方法です。道具も筆だけとは限りません。子ども達は絵を描きながら大興奮し、中には歌いながら床に置いた紙の周りをぐるぐると踊るグループもあり、クラスはとても盛り上がりました。
We did two sets of this style of painting. First was with the whole class and another was with our groups. These were two different experiences but just as fun! We also made a mini-bio for our artist. We have this mini-book called Artists’ Memo where we take down notes about important information we learned the artist’s life. It was very interesting to relate the kind of work they have to the kind of life they lived.
この方法で絵を2つ描きました。1つはクラス全体で、もう1つはグループで描きました。どちらもとても楽しんでできました。また、私たちはアーティストのミニ・バイオを作りました。アーティスト・メモというミニブックに、アーティストの人生について知った情報をメモしていきます。アーティストがどんな作品を作っているのか、どんな人生を送ってきたのかを関連付けるのはとても興味深いものでした。
