Back to School! – Milky Way 8/17 – 8/19

Everyone could not hide their excitement on the first day of school after the Summer vacation. We all missed each other and were so ready to go back to our routine.

This week was short, but lots of fun-filled activities:

UOI:

  • To review what we have learned before the summer vacation, the students were tasked to make a Resolution Die which contains different ways of solving a conflict. They reviewed many ways of confronting a problem, picked 6 ways, and drew in each side of the cube.

Reading:

  • We read a book about Spring. It is already summer, but this book helped us to learn the phrasal verbs: POP OUT and POP UP. In Spring lots of things pop out and pop up like flowers, leaves, sun, etc. The hands-on activity sharpened our comprehension by challenging the students to interpret the sentence in the boxes on the worksheet by drawing. These types of activities and exercises help their English skills level up.
Phonics: blend sound /sk/

Extra Curricular: Emergency Drill.

  • Disasters and calamities around the world are prevalent and are indeed inevitable, so to help our students be safe when these appalling events occur is to prepare them and teach them what to do during these times. This week we held an Earthquake Emergency drill where the whole campus reenacted a situation where there are shaking and falling objects around us. The students showed their awareness of what to do upon hearing the emergency alarm. They put their toys down and immediately hid under their tables and waited until the announcement of safety was given. We all hope that when the real situation happens, they will all be as vigilant.

3 days is short, but we all have been nothing but productive and happy! No one can deny that it’s fun to be BACK to SCHOOL! 🙂

Dip and Dive: Fun in the pool.

Have a wonderful weekend!
