This is the week before Milky Way’s Graduation Ceremony. We had a busy time practicing for this special day and also preparing for our Open Day.
来週はいよいよ卒園式。今週は式のリハーサルや、オープンデーに向けての準備でとても忙しい週になりました。
The Milky Way kids were all so engaged and hands-on in preparing for the Open Day because this is also their summative assessment in UOI. For our unit on Natural Resources, the students presented what they have learned throughout the unit. Half of the class chose to be Water Heroes, while the other half chose to be Tree Heroes. They identified the uses of the natural resources that they have chosen, and they also figured out ways on how to save them. The Milky Way kids thought of different ways on how to present what they have learned. As a class, we decided to make informational videos about the uses of water and trees. The students also decided to have role-playing as a way of presenting the ways on how to conserve natural resources.
今回のオープンデーでの発表は、ユニット４最後のアセスメントだったので、みんな一生懸命準備をしてきました。「天然資源」に関する今回のユニットを通して、自分たちがどんなことを学んだのかを題材に発表をしました。クラスの半分の子たちが「水を守るヒーロー」、もう半分の子たちが「木を守るヒーロー」になりました。自分たちでそれぞれの天然資源がどのように使われているかを確認し、更にその天然資源をどのように守ることが出来るかを見つけ出しました。クラスでは、天然資源の使い道を紹介するビデオをみんなで作成することにしました。さらに、天然資源を守る方法を劇で伝えようと決めました！
Everyone did their very best to prepare for our UOI presentation and it was all worth it because it turned out great! They remembered their lines, they used the right voice level, and they also presented everything well. We hope that the parents enjoyed our presentation and also inspire them to be Water Heroes and Tree Heroes.
発表のためにグループごとに話し合い、どんな事を題材にするのか、どんな劇をするのか、役割はどうするのかなど、みんなで意見を出し合って準備をしました。その成果もあり、オープンデーの日はすばらしい発表が出来ました。台詞をきちんと覚えて、大きな声で堂々と発表することが出来ました！みんなの思いが保護者の皆様に伝わり、みなさんも水や森をを守るヒーローもなってくださるとうれしいです！
Right after our UOI presentation, we also showed our bell performance. The students have been practicing this musical piece in their Music class for quite some time now. That’s why they were really happy to show their parents what they have worked hard for. We hope that they liked Milky Way’s bell performance.
UOIの発表の後は、ハンドベルの発表もしました。卒園式での演奏は叶いませんでしたが、これまでミュージッククラスやクラスで練習していた演奏を、保護者の皆様の前で発表出来たことをみんな心から喜んでいました。皆様からも温かいコメントをいただきまして、ありがとうございました。
Last Thursday, we had our last Tennis class, which is also our Tennis Open Day. Milky Way kids showed their parents the different skills they have learned in their tennis lessons. We had some drills and exercises. The students also showed how they handle the tennis racket and how they can hit the ball over the net. Everyone seemed to enjoy this awesome day!

木曜日は今年度最後のテニスレッスンがありました。そしてみんなの楽しみにしていた、テニスオープンデーの日でした。テニスレッスンで学んだ色々な技を保護者の方に見てもらいました。コートの半分でエクササイズを行い、もう半分でラケットで球を打つ練習をしました。球を打つと大きな歓声があがり、みんな楽しんで練習が出来ました。
午前、午後にわたりオープンデーにお越しいただきまして、ありがとうございました。保護者の皆様にも楽しんでご参加いただけたら幸いです。
今週は月曜日と金曜日に公園に行き、思い切り遊んできました♬
