Who wouldn’t be happy to have their parents at school with them? On Monday, the Milky Way class had their open school day which means parents can come into the classroom and watch/join their children as they do their routines and activities at school. Everybody was full of energy as they showed their parents our morning circle with lots of singing and dancing. They were also very motivated to say the English sentences we are learning in front of their parents. Well done, Milky Way!
As for our UOI, we had a short Dentist Office pretend play wherein the teachers are the dentist and dental hygienist, and the students are the patients. We showed various things used to clean the teeth such as toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, and toothpick. They were also thrilled to see a big teeth model and toothbrush. After talking about germs, plaque, tooth decay, and cavity, we proceed on checking if they have plaque using the dental plaque liquid checker with the help of their parents. The red stains on their teeth are the sign that they have plaque on that area of their teeth and to remove it, they had to brush their teeth. Though some students were scared to gargle a red liquid in their mouth, most of them were very risk-takers that did their best to try it even if they were scared at first. Thank you so much, dear parents, for helping us to convince your children to do the plaque activity! Most of all, we would like to thank you for your time and effort to join us in our open day!
We ended the week with a blast! We had another memorable experience outside the school. As part of our inquiry about plants, the Milky Way class went to the farm to plant sweet potatoes. They planted two types of sweet potatoes. Unlike other plants, they planted the sweet potatoes horizontally. After watering them, they put dried straws on the garden beds to protect the soil from drying because of too much heat from the sun.
Our happy story didn’t end here because after planting sweet potatoes, we went to the chicken coop and got a chance to feed the chickens and see and touch their freshly laid eggs. Hope we didn’t scare the chickens and eat the food we left in their house. And the most exciting part was picking and eating blueberries! They picked and ate as many blueberries as they could. “Wow, it’s so many! It’s so yummy! I love blueberries! I want to eat more blueberries! I will give this to my family! I want to come back here with my family!” Everyone had so much fun and had a wonderful experience!

家族へのプレゼントに、スクラッチングという技法を使ってカードを作りました☆明るい色のクレヨンで色を付け、その上を暗めの色で塗りつぶします。そして割りばしを削った物（マジックペンシル✨）で大好きなパパやママの似顔絵やメッセージを描きました。まだまだ作りたい！と、お絵かき帳にも描いて楽しんでいましたよ♪年中さんと一緒に公園にも行きました。とても楽しかった様子です😊
