Savanna and Shooting Star October 2-6

This week began our new transdisciplinary theme, how we express ourselves. We started reading many stories to help the students become engaged in the learning, and create and understanding of the new vocabulary they will be using. We would like students to be able to differentiate between fiction and non-fiction writing, and be able to explain how they have this knowledge. Students will also be able to share information about a story’s characters, setting and plot. It is our goal, through this unit, that students also understand that people can share stories through books, music, puppets, dance, poems, and verbally. Mr. Jimmy and Ms. Amy are very excited for this unit.
We worked hard in the classroom and practiced our math, reading, writing and cooperation. In math we are working hard on our addition, adding numbers to make 10, and counting by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s. In reading, we are sounding out words in short books, and practicing the letter ‘Jj’. Our writing has improved so much! We are getting very good at sounding out word so that our writing makes sense! Cooperation is very important to us too! We want to help each other learn, and be respectful, independent and committed.
This week also brought our bus trip! We had so much fun at the park. Ms. Amy was sad that she missed going with us!
Hopefully your weekend is enjoyable!!
