Creating with force?

What do you get when you add paint, water and gravity?
Some very colorful creations!
These surprising images were created by ISN Elementary students today, a perfect day for painting outside with lots of sunshine, lots of enthusiasm, and no wind.
Our current unit has led us to exploring the effects of gravity on paint and water. Being thinkers and knowledgeable, students discussed the forces involved in this process; they concluded that the forces were their pushing of paint, and the pushing of water as well as the pulling of gravity. After completing their masterpieces, we all used our imagination to decide what each painting looked like. Everyone enjoyed this activity.
On Monday we will come to the conclusion of our unit “How the world works”, “Natural forces and human activities change the earth.” Students are looking forward to sharing their final task with their peers and their families on “easyblog”. They will present the environment they created and explain how they used it for survival, entertainment, and inquiry. They will also reflect on how they have changed the environment.
This task will lead nicely into our last unit for this school year which has a focus on how living things need to share their environments.
This week one of our students, Ryu, traveled abroad on a holiday to another country and students were keen to keep in touch with him, and in some way wanted to join his adventure. Using “easyblog”, everyone is able to have daily conversations with Ryu and share their learning in both countries. We also look forward to his return.
