Making Connections

Connecting ideas! Connecting environments! Connecting countries!
In this final week of our unit: “How the world works”, “Natural forces and human activities change the earth.” we are being “reflective” and making connections between our own ideas and the ideas of others.
Students have been busy discussing what they did well and what they would like to do better in their environment presentation.
In addition students have been “thinkers” and “communicators”, by giving feedback to others about their environments and presentations.
We have also been making connections between the different environments in which students have chosen to build: beaches, rivers, waterfalls, rainforests, and even environments under the water.
Students concluded that even though these environments are very different, they all have forces acting in them such as wind, water, soil, and gravity. The sun was also named as a force; being thinkers, students concluded that the sun pushes heat out and onto the earth.
Our final 2 conclusions for this unit were: a force is a push or a pull that changes things; and forces are changing things everywhere on earth all the time (constantly).
In true celebration style, our final art activity was making a mural using the force of our muscles, water, gravity and paint. We have yet to decide what our class mural will be called or where we will put it for display for our ISN community to enjoy. However, when it is up, we will certainly enjoy remembering all the interesting and important things we did in this unit. Importantly we all agreed that using force can be fun.
