After five weeks of the Summer programme, the new term has started. The Upper Elementary Class students have started on exploring their new unit of inquiry, the one dealing with inventors and their inventions.
Through reading various books, looking at videos and sharing their ideas with their classmates, the students have learned that inventions can be big and small, useful or a little less useful, require more or less work to actually invent, but that all of them start from the brain of the inventor. They have also discussed how the inventions have developed over time and how their development influenced our daily lives. 🤔
Another big project the students have started working on is their Christmas play for this year. The play is inspired their by the stories from their previous unit of migrations, but the students will come up with their characters, write the screenplay, create the costumes and make the props completely by themselves. A long preparation is ahead of them, but please look forward to the final product.
The class tackled several smaller projects this week too: they have cleaned and tidied their craft material boxes, they have adjusted to their new classroom seating arrangement, they have started keeping their lockers more tidy by putting their backpacks outside of the classroom, they started practicing writing in cursive, as well working harder on English grammar. 😊

サマープログラムの5週間もあっという間に過ぎ、新学期が始まりました。アッパーエレメンタリークラスの生徒たちは、新しいUnit of Inquiry（探究の概念）「発明者と発明」を探究し始めました。
発明は大きなものから小さいものまで、役に立つものや少し役に立つもの、実際に発明するのに多かれ少なかれ労力が必要だと言うこと、全ての発明は発明者の脳から生み出されたものであるということを様々な本を読んだり、ビデオを見たり、クラスメートとアイディアを共有しながら学びました。そして、発明が時間をかけてどのように進化してきたか、その進化がどう私達の日常生活に影響を与えたかディスカッションを行いました。
今年のクリスマスショーの練習にも取り組み始めました。演劇は前回のUnit of Inquiry（探究の概念）の移民のストーリーからアイディアを得ました。これから、キャラクターを考え、脚本を書いたり、衣装を作成したり、小道具を自分たちで作成します。これから数ヶ月準備に取り組み、どんな物ができあがるか楽しみです！
今週は小さな課題にも取り組みました。クラフト材料が入っている箱の整理整頓・机の配置換え、部屋のロッカーを整頓しランドセルは廊下のロッカーに置くことにしました。
