What a wonderful start to the new school year! The 2nd and 3rd graders did a terrific job with speeches, songs and dances to welcome the 1st graders to elementary school.
We had two goals for the week. The first was to get to know each other so that we can work well as a team. Ms. Ellen showed pictures about herself and a video about America. Then we interviewed each other and did presentations about our classmates. We discussed the kinds of skills needed for effective interviewing and presenting.
とても良い新年度をスタートすることができました！2年生と3年生は入学式で新一年生を迎えるにあたり、素晴らしいスピーチ、歌、ダンスを披露してくれました。
今週は２つ目標がありました。一つ目は、チームとして上手くやっていくためにお互いのことを知ることです。Ms.エレンが自身の写真とアメリカのビデオを見せました。そして、お互いの自己紹介をして、クラスメートについてプレゼンテーションを行いました。そして、より効果的な顔合わせ（インタビュー）や発表の仕方に必要なスキルについて話し合いました。
私たちは、スーパーヒーローレッスンの間に自分自身についてもっと話しました。チョークで自分達自身をスーパーヒーローとして描いて、名前を付けそのスーパーヒーローについて話しました。みんなの創造力はビックリするほどでした！
２つ目の目標は、クラスのルールと責任を決めることです。みんなでルールを考えました。各自でブレインストーミングを行い、グループでそれぞれのアイディアを共有しました。そして、クラスの11個のルールを決定し、皆でそれらルールを書いたポスターを作りました。このポスターは一年間教室に貼っていきます！
その他の活動は、図書館で読書をしたり、英語の歌を歌ったり、掃除をしたり、体育の授業では走ったりしました。来週月曜日からは、ユニット１の探究の単元を始めて行きます。ISNでこれから皆と一緒に学んでいけることを楽しみにしています！
We revealed even more about ourselves during our super hero lesson. Using sidewalk chalk we drew ourselves as super heroes, named them and talked about their super powers. Everyone’s creativity was astounding!
The second goal of the week was to establish our classroom rules and responsibilities. We came up the rules by ourselves. We brainstormed individually, shared our ideas in small groups and then decided on 11 rules as our class contract. We all contributed to the contract poster, which will hang in the classroom for the year.
Other activities included reading at the library, singing an English song, cleaning our school and running in P.E. class. We are eager to start our Unit of Inquiry about celebrations on Monday!
