Milky Way November 13-17

It was another very eventful week for the Milky Way students. Practicing for the Christmas show (from now on popularly called „CSP“) has intensified, as well as practicing for the music performance. Some of the students are playing pianicas, some woodblocks, castanets and bells, but everyone is already very good at their instrument. The music and assistant teachers also complimented the students’ skills.
In Social Studies lessons this week, the students have continued studying about art forms, particularly music and dance. They learned about different styles of dance and different instruments. The most popular one was breakdancing, because it was very funny how the dances show their „tummies“.
The craft lesson on Thursday was connected with music as well, as the students made their own maracas by using paper cups, plastic spoons and colorful tape and then filled them with rice so they could produce a sound. There were some very creative ones and some students went beyond the original idea, making shakers and harmonicas as well as the maracas.
In Math, the students continued their studies on measurement, using plastic sticks to measure various objects around the classroom, but progressing to using a ruler to measure centimeters by Friday. It appears they understood the concept of length very well, as some of them started wondering what kind of instruments we could use to measure the lenght of the classroom, the Earth and so on.
Another important event this week was the Open Lunch Day on Friday. The students has a lot of fun enjoying lunch with their parents. I would like to use this opportunity to thank all the parents once more for coming and hope to see everyone at similar events in the future too.
The Milky Way students are off to enjoy their well-deserved rest this weekend, in preparation for next week’s activities.
