Milky Way January 29 – February 02

Another interesting and fun week is behind Milky Way students.
On Monday, they learned about the cycles in nature, specifically life cycles of apples and other plants. Some students have shown great knowledge of the topic already, as they have watched plants grow from seedlings and fruit from flowers before.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, they used their knowledge in making craft dioramas of different life cycles observed in nature. The students seemed to love working in teams and they really enjoyed making their dioramas look as nice as possible, using blue tape to create sea waves, felt to cut out turtles and blue cotton balls to represent rain. Everyone did a wonderful job and, most importantly, was able to correctly describe what makes a cycle and why is every step of the cycle important. The most popular cycle was definitely turtle migrations, but some of the students decided to show butterfly life cycles and water life cycles as well.
On Thursday and Friday, the students were dedicated to Maths and have started to learn about counting and using real money. They have learned about recognizing the Japanese yen coins from 1 to 100 and about counting how much money they need to buy certain food items. This will continue into the next week as well.
The practise schedule for the students` graduating performance intensified as well. They are already familiar with their speeches and are busy learning the words to the songs they will sing and the steps they will take to enter and exit the ceremony hall. Everyone seems excited.
Hopefully next week brings just as much fun.
