This week in Shooting Star, most of the children were recovered from flu or sickness, and we were again back to the usual fun & friendly class!
Even though most of them are back, a few more children are falling ill now.
We will keep protecting ourselves from any germs and bacteria by washing hands and gurgling properly.
For the phonics lesson, we have learned the new phonics sounds; digraphs ck and sh.
A digraph is a single sound which is represented by two letters.
This week’s focus was on digraph ck which is sounded as /k/ and digraph sh as /sh/.
The words we learned include;
ck… sack, duck, sock, block, brick, rock, stick, and truck.
sh… shed, shelf, wish, dish, brush, shell, ship, and trash.
In math lesson, we mainly examined the odd and even numbers.
These words and way of counting them were unfamiliar to the students, but now most of them get to understand the concept and can list up those in place.

As Valentine’s Day is coming next Tuesday, we are going to send you biiiiig love!
Half of the students got to make a 3D heart on Thursday afternoon.
Each of them have an original shape of heart and message!
They worked so hard that it is so much worth receiving their love for you!
今週は、先週のインフルエンザ＆風邪の流行がだいぶ引き、お休みしていたお友達がたくさん戻ってきました。
活気を取り戻し、仲良く遊び、学ぶ子どもたちの姿が見れてとても嬉しかったですね。
しかし、今週に入り風邪をひき始めたお友達も何人かいるので、引き続き手洗い・うがいと風邪予防を徹底していきましょう！
フォニックスのレッスンでは、digraph（二重音字）について学習しています。
digraph（二重音字）とは二文字で１つの音を表すものです。
今週はckとshです。ckは/k/（クッ）、shは/sh/（シュー）という音で表されます。

算数の授業では、奇数と偶数に取り組んでいます。
始めはodd numbers（奇数）とeven numbers（偶数）という言葉に対しても、首を傾げていた子どもたちですが、
今では1から100までの順番で偶数・奇数を順々に数えていくことも慣れてき、数字を奇数・偶数に分けることもできるお友達が増えました！
来週火曜日にはバレンタイン！ということで、木曜日にクラスの半分の子どもたちが3D のハートを作りました。
自分で一からハートの形を描き、切り、色を組み合わせて、メッセージを描き、たくさんの愛が詰まった工作ができました！
日本ではバレンタインというと、「チョコをあげる日！」と声を揃えて言っていた子どもたち。
今年は大好きな家族に「大好きだよ」と伝えようね、と一生懸命作りました。来週火曜日をお楽しみに！
