Aurora class has another fun-filled learning experience this week.今週も楽しい探求活動をたくさん行いました。
👉 Unit Of Inquiry
We have started our new UOI with the theme; Sharing the planet, Central idea; People’s action impact animals and our first line of inquiry; Animals in our environment. To start with our new unit, we sang the Old MacDonald Had A Farm song, then we reviewed the name of animals using flashcards. Most students could name them in English. It’s good to know how much they could remember what they’ve learned last school year. After reviewing the name of animals, we did our prior knowledge assessment activity. We classified the animals according to their habitat, Farm/Pet, Mountain, and Ocean. How amusing it was to see that a shrimp was classified under a Farm/Pet Animals and a lion was classified under Sea Animals? But hold on because we are still on the process of our learning and wait until we will be able to classify them accordingly. This is going to be an exciting unit for us.
今週からSharing the planetという、新しいユニットに入りました。Central ideaは、”People’s action impact animals”です。UOIは、”Animals in our environment”という事で、動物についての探求が始まりました。導入として、Old MacDonald Had A Farmのお歌をみんなで歌いました。そのご、フラッシュカードを使用して、色々な動物を学びました。さすがはオーロラさん！殆どのお友達が動物の名前を英語で覚えていました！去年の復習をした後、子供達がどれだけ動物のことを知っているのか、”prior knowledge assessment “を行いました。子供達に、知っている動物達は何処に住んでいるのか考えてもらいました。お家でかうペットなのか、ファームに住む動物なのか、山にいる動物なのか、または海に住む動物なのか、を考えてもらい、分類してもらいました。なんと、驚くべき結果が見られました！エビ🦞が山に？ライオンが海🏖に？でも大丈夫です。まだ始まったばかりです。これから探求をして行く中で、子供達は知識を身につけていきます。このユニットは、間違いなくエキサイティングな探求になりそうですね。
👉 Star Festival
We asked students what they want or what they wish for Star Festival. Aurora class stated what they want, like, I want to go to Disneyland, I want to have more presents, and the teachers helped them write on a rectangle shape colored paper. Then we hung them in the bamboo tree at the school entrance.
今週の7日は七夕🎋でした。子供達の願いを七夕の短冊に書いて、笹に飾りました。まず、何が欲しいのか、したいのかを考えてみました。ディズニーランドに行きたい！や、もっとオモチャが欲しい！、など、色々な願いが出ました。先生にそれぞれの願いを書いてもらい、1人ひとり短冊を笹に飾りました。
👉 Craft
Since our theme for Sports Festival in September is Olympics, we made an Olympic craft using paper plates and we painted them with five different colors. Ms. Hitoko explained to us the meaning of each color, Red for fire, Yellow for sand, Black for mud, Green for trees, and Blue for water. These colors represent the five continents of the world.
今年のISNスポーツフェスティバルのテーマが、オリンピックに決まりました！そこで、オリンピッククラフトをしました。五輪マークを、紙皿に絵の具で色を付けて制作しました。制作前に、赤、青、黄、黒、緑の5色にはどんな意味があるのか、先生から聞きました。五大陸を意味し、また、赤は火、青は水、黒は土、黄は砂、緑は木を表していることを学びました。
