Hello everyone and welcome back to Aurora’s weekly blog update! This week, we started to do all the activities included in our timetable. Aurora class had experienced some of them for the first time with awe and joy!😍
みなさん、こんにちは。オーロラのブログにようこそ！ 計画されている全ての活動がスタートしました。 オーロラの子ども達は、それらいくつかの初めての活動を喜びをもって体験しました！
On Monday, we began with our Phonics lesson and learned about the letter Aa. To introduce them to the letter we were about to learn, we did a puzzle activity and they formed the letter Aa. Well done!👏 Then, we watched a video wherein they learned to produce the /a/ sound and words that begin with the letter. We reviewed the words through flashcards and played FEED THE BEAR🐻, wherein the teacher says what bear wants to eat. For example, the bear wants to eat an apple. So, the student has to take the picture on the board and feed it to the bear. Everyone wanted to try and feed the bear. Next time, we’ll have all of them experience this activity.
月曜日は、フォニックス（英語）のレッスンから始め「A・a」という文字について学びました。 学習対象のアルファベットを子ども達に紹介するために、パズルを用い、子ども達はパズルで「A」「a」を完成させました。 よくできました！次に「A.a」の音と文字で始まる単語を紹介するビデオを教材を鑑賞しました。また、フラッシュカードで単語を確認する「FEED THE BEAR🐻（熊の餌付け）にも取り組みました。先生が熊は何を食べたいかを言い（例えば熊はリンゴ（Apple) を食べたいと思っているよ！）、子ども達はボードに張られたイラストからリンゴを探し、それを熊に与えます。 みんな熊に餌をやりたがっていました。 次回は全員にこの活動を体験してもらいます。
On Tuesday, our class had swimming lesson. Some of them had experienced it 2 years ago, and it was a first time for others. We taught them how to wear their swimsuits and change back into their clothes. And reminded them to walk nicely in the pool area to avoid slipping. Everybody had so much fun in the pool and did the activities with excitement!🏊
火曜日には水泳のレッスンを受けました。 2年前に経験した子もいれば、初めての子もいました。 水着の着替方を教えてもらい、プールエリアで滑らないよう上手に歩く事を再確認しました。 みんなプールでとても楽しみ、大興奮でした！
On Wednesday and Thursday, Aurora class started to have UOI lessons. I started with the theme WHO WE ARE. To know if students understand the meaning of this theme, I asked them “Who are you?” and some of them answered their names. Great job!👏 Aside from that, I also asked them their age and class group and explained to them that it also tells them who they are.
水曜日と木曜日は「UOIレッスン」を開始しました。 「私達は誰なのか」というテーマから始めました。 生徒たちがこのテーマの意味を理解しているかどうかを確認する為に「あなたは誰ですか？」と尋ねました。そして何人かが自分の名前を答えました。 素晴らしいです！年齢やクラスについても尋ね、それが、彼らが誰であるかを教えてくれることを説明しました。

Central Idea: Knowing about ourselves and our school community helps us to be independent. 中心となるアイデア：「自分やスクールコミュニティーについて知ることは、自立に役立つ」

My roles at school (form) 私の役割

Learner Profiles: 学習者像 ：Open-minded（心を開く人）, balanced（バランスの取れた人）, principled（信念を持つ人）
Since this is their first time having UOI lessons, we want them to teach these little by little for them not to be confused and fed up with so much information.
UOIのレッスンは今回が初めてなので、混乱したり、多くの情報にうんざりしてしまわないように少しずつ教えていただきたいと思っています。
For LOI1: My roles at school, we had a prior knowledge assessment to know how much our students understand one of their roles at school which is to put their stuff in the proper place, I showed them some of their stuff like cap, cup, drink bottle, towel, and lunch bag and asked them where each of them goes. So far, they were able to do it perfectly.🤩
UOI1：学校での私の役割については、事前に知識評価を行い、学校での自分の役割の1つ=適切な場所に自分の荷物を置く。をどの程度理解しているかを確認しました。帽子、カップ、水筒、タオル、ランチ袋など、それぞれをどこに置くべきかを尋ねました。 みんな完璧に行うことができました。
To explain the meaning of the word “role”, we had a picture matching activity on the board. I showed them pictures of a doctor, a bus driver and a firefighter, and they were able to name them correctly. On the other side are pictures of what they are doing or their work. Our boys and girls perfectly matched the pictures to the correct answer!👏
「役割」という言葉の意味を説明するために、写真のマッチング活動を行いました。 片側には医者、バスの運転手、消防士の写真、反対側には、彼らの仕事や活動の様子の写真があり、関連する両者を線で結びました。子ども達は写真を正解に一致させました！
The first role that we talked about was how to unpack their backpack in the morning. Each table group demonstrated in front of the class how they do it properly. They need to look at the picture on the basket to know where to put the drink bottle, cup, towel, letter folder, and lunch bag, and how to hang their plastic bag and backpack in their locker.
私たちが話し合った最初の役割は、朝、バック（荷物）を開梱する方法でした。 各テーブル毎のグループで、クラスの前に出てそれを適切に実践して見せました。 水筒、カップ、タオル、レターフォルダー、ランチバッグをどこに置くかを知り、ビニール袋とバックをロッカーに掛ける方法を習得する為に、所定の置き場に貼られた（目印の）イラストを見る必要があります。
We also had gym class on Wednesday. We started with some warm up exercises and everybody did their best to try it! They missed running back and forth at the gym and playing with the big hula hoops. They did some activities using the hula hoops and everyone enjoyed it and sweated a lot!🤩
水曜日には体育の授業もありました。ウォームアップから始め、みんな頑張りました！ 彼らはジムで前後に走ったり、大きなフラフープで遊んだりしました。 フラフープを使ったいくつかの動作もしました、みんな楽しく汗を流しました！
What does Aurora mean? Everybody can say it, but we don’t know what it is. In our craft activity, we showed them a video of Aurora. It is a red, green, pink, purple or blue light that can be seen in the sky during night-time, sadly we can’t see it in Japan. Aurora students painted the big paper with black/grey that represents the sky and blue for aurora.🌌
オーロラとはどういう意味ですか？ 誰でも言うことができますが、それが何であるかを知りません。 そこでクラフトの活動で、オーロラの映像ビデオを見せました。それは夜の空に見える赤、緑、ピンク、紫や青の光です。残念ながら日本で見ることはできません・・・オーロラクラスのみんなは、大きな紙にオーロラの現れる国の、寒い夜の空を描きました。（＊オーロラが現れたら、改めてご披露します！）
On Friday, we had Music lesson. Our boys and girls sang a Butterfly song in Japanese. Moved according to the rhythm of music like walking, running, and swinging. They also played a musical instrument which is castanets for the first time. They have to hold it using their middle finger in the left hand. Everyone liked it and after some practice, they finally played it perfectly!🤩
金曜日には音楽のレッスンがありました。 日本語の「ちょうちょ」の歌を歌ったり、音楽のリズムに合わせて、歩く、走る、揺れるの動きをしました。 また、初めての楽器＝カスタネットも演奏しました。 左手の中指にカスタネットを（かけて）持ちます。みんなとても気に入って、何度か練習した後、完璧に演奏しました！
Aurora class was also taught the importance of finishing the food in their food. Our teachers showed us a role-play of stuffed bears eating their lunch and saw the difference on their plates. One of them finished everything and showed a clean plate and soup bowl which made the plate and bowl happy, and the other one left some small bits of food in the plate and soup bowl and made the plate and bowl sad. We called them good👍 and bad plates👎. We want to encourage our kids to finish their food completely and not waste food as much as possible, and eat the food they don’t like.
オーロラのクラスは、完食の大切さを教えられました。 先生は、2匹の熊のぬいぐるみがランチを食べる寸劇で、食後のお皿の違いを見せました。一匹は完食し、お皿とお椀が喜んでおり、もう一匹は食べ残しがあり、お皿とお椀が悲しんでいました。 そしてそれらを「GOOD(良い例）👍」と「BAD(悪い例）👎」と呼びました。 私たちは子ども達が完食し、できるだけ食べ物を無駄にしないように、そして嫌いな食べ物も食べられるように応援したいと思っています。
